Elephant (Breaking Free)

Elephant (breaking Free) was created shortly after my mum passed away following a long battle with cancer.

During this time, painting became a way for me to process grief. This elephant emerged naturally as a symbol of strength, release and freedom from pain. 

The art work represents breaking free from suffering, from weight and what no longer holds us.

This piece marked a turning point in my practice. It was my first mixed media painting of this type and opened the door to the style I continue to develop today.

This painting has remained with me as part of my private collection.
